The SASC Sports Awards
for 2004 were presented in the County Hall, County
Buildings, Ayr on Monday 16th May 2005.
Afterwards the winners appeared for a photocall outside
the County Buildings with SASC Chairman Chris Carlyle.

Ayr
Seaforth Athletic Club Under 15 Girls |
The
team qualified for the Scottish Indoor League Final 2004
as one of the top six clubs in Scotland, having been undefeated
in 3 earlier matches. They came out top in the final to
become winners of the Scottish Indoor League 2004.
Amanda Conway: 3rd, 60m hurdles.
Kerry Steele: 1st, 200m; 1st, long jump; 3rd, 60m.
Paula Dalgleish: 1st, high jump.
Kerri Jones: 1st, shot putt.

South Ayrshire Swim Team |
Over
the past three years, Johnstone has set 14 West District
records. Last year his achievements in major meets included
21 Golds, 14 Silvers, and 13 Bronzes. He also won five Best
Boy Trophies: Dundee (11 years) - where he has been Best
Boy in three successive years; Stirling (12 years); West
District (12 years); North Ayrshire 200 Meet (12 years)
- where he set two meet records; and Warrender (12 years).

Evans
South Ayrshire Swim Team |
Garry
is a former district and national level swimmer who became
involved with swimming in Ayr twelve years ago. Within SAST
he has been a committee member and officials coordinator.
Starting with a few timekeepers he has built up a team of
50 technical officials, including 2 international referees,
4 starters, 7 judges, and 2 recorders. He also coaches 4
or 5 sessions a week and attends galas at weekends as necessary. |

South Ayrshire Swim Team |
Sue
has been involved with Ayrshire swimming for about 25 years,
starting as a parent helper with Ayr ASC, and then being
club secretaty for 8 years. She was on the steering group
for the new South Ayrshire Swim Team, and then became competition
secretary for the new club, dealing with about 4,000 entries
and results for club members each year. She is the representative
for the West District, is on the Clyde Coast Committee,
and a member of the Sports Council. She organises and runs
the Royal Burgh of Ayr primary schools gala. As a volunteer
she also organises the Ayrshire heats for the Scottich Schools
Swimming Championships for the East, North, and South Ayrshire
education departments. |

Tom
coaches Marr College and Troon Tornadoes, and is currently
head coach for the Scottish Junior Men's Team, which has
beaten England for the first time in 27 years and Ireland
for the first time in 25 years. |

Tornadoes Basketball Senior Men's Team |
Winners
of the Scottish National Cup for the second time. This is
the second Ayrshire win since 1950 and an outstanding achievement
for a provincial club playing against city teams. The team
has been in the finals of the cup on five occasions, and
is now coached by Ewan Campbell. |
